Share article:

The Finance Ministry in cooperation with ČNB have prepared an amendment of the Act on the Czech National Bank, which has been published in the Collection of Deeds under number 219/2021 and takes effect on 1 August 2021.

The amendment enlarges the scope of currency policy tools and the range of entities, with whom the Czech National Bank may enter into transactions on the free market.

Based on recommendations from the International Monetary Fund and the European Systemic Risk Board, the amendment enables the Czech National Bank to set the upper limit on one to three loan indicators. More lenient conditions will apply for applicants under the age of 36 years requesting a mortgage. In addition, according to an amendment approved by the Chamber of Deputies, for application of more lenient conditions in the case of spouses or registered partners, it will be sufficient for at least one of them to meet the age criterion (being under 36 years of age).
