The Electromobility Guarantee programme is here. Companies and freelancers can apply for two billion to buy electric cars and charging stations

At the beginning of December, the much-anticipated call from the new Electromobility Guarantee programme was announced. The programme falls under the National Recovery Plan and through it over CZK 1.9 billion should be distributed to successful applicants from among small, medium and large companies throughout the Czech Republic.

The grant call focuses on supporting the purchase of zero-emission vehicles and the development of non-public charging infrastructure by businesses. However, enterprises owned by local authorities cannot be applicants. Financial support will be provided in the form of a portfolio bank guarantee for a commercial loan from a leasing company or a commercial bank together with a financial contribution.

“Companies are expected to be quite interested in the subsidy call. It will be possible to finance both road vehicles of categories M1, N1 and N2 up to 4.25 t and non-public charging stations within the business premises for their own needs,” said Naviga Advisory and Evaluation subsidy expert Petr Koc. “It is important to note, however, that if you buy an electric car, it must be a new vehicle and you cannot get support for a second-hand one. It is also necessary to emphasise that the support is provided under the de minimis regime,” added Petr Koc.

Guarantee up to 70%

The guarantee will only be available for loans from cooperating partners who have a contract with the National Development Bank. It can be used for a loan to finance the purchase of an emission-free alternative fuel vehicle and charging station. The guarantee will be provided up to 70% of the principal amount of the guaranteed loan.

Loan for an emission-free vehicle up to CZK 2.5 million.

The amount of credit granted will vary depending on the type of vehicle and charging station being purchased:

  • Electric cars – from CZK 300 thous. to CZK 1.5 million for M1 (passenger) cars, otherwise up to CZK 2.5 million.
  • Charging stations – from CZK 100 thous. to CZK 400 thousand.

The interest rate of the guaranteed loan will be set according to the agreement between the final beneficiary and the cooperating partner. The duration of the loan will be a minimum of 12 months and the purchase of the charging station itself must always be linked to the car purchased. It is therefore not possible to purchase more stations within the project than the number of vehicles purchased.

Financial contribution for an electric car up to CZK 300 thousand

The amount of the financial contribution will also depend on the category of vehicle purchased or the type of charging station:

  • Category M1 – max. CZK 200 thous./vehicle
  • Category N1 – max. CZK 250 thous./vehicle
  • Category N2 and FCEV – max. CZK 300 thousand/vehicle
  • AC charging station – max. CZK 50 thous./ charging station
  • DC charging stations up to 40 kW – max. CZK 100 thousand/charging station
  • DC charging stations over 40 kW – max. CZK 150 thousand/charging station
