Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the Chamber of Deputies approved a proposal of the finance ministry on Tuesday 26 May 2020, according to which all stages of EET should be postponed until the end of the year 2020. Electronic record of sales was originally suspended for three months after the end of the state of emergency, and records would thus begin again from 19 August 2020. The amendment of this act, due to which the postponement would be shifted to 1 January 2021, is waiting to be signed by the president of the Czech Republic.

Both subjects that belonged to the first two stages, that is wholesale, retail, catering and accommodation, and subjects, which were to begin e-sales from 1 May, will thus begin to record their sales from 1 January 2021. The adopted bill gives entrepreneurs and other taxpayers affected three months to prepare for the launch or reintroduction of electronic record of sales. This mainly relates to collecting authentication data or requesting a permit to record sales in a special regime.
