More pensioners working this year than the last

Share article:

From January to September 2016 the Czech Social Security Administration (CSSA) received almost 62 thousand requests for recalculation of retirement pension for working pensioners. With these numbers the amount of recalculation requests is already as high the amount of request for the whole year 2015. A working pensioner is eligible to recalculation and raise of his or her pension after having worked for 360 days, both when he or she is either an employee or an entrepreneur.  It must be pointed out that the 360 day period does not include unpaid holiday, absence without leave, temporary occupational incapacity or leave to take care of a household member. The recalculation does not happen automatically; it is carried out on the basis of a written request by the pensioner. One is eligible to a raise based on gainful activity performed after 31st December 2009. This is provided for in a provision from 1st January 2010. From 1st January 2014 a pensioner, who is involved in a gainful activity that is a basis for a pension and who is at the same time being payed the full amount of  retirement pension by the CSSA, can make a request for a raise every time he or she has worked for 360 calendar days. Until 31st December 2013 it was possible to make a raise request either after two years of consecutive gainful activity or after the activity has ended. This is no longer a requirement. It is now possible to request a raise after every 360 pensionable days.
