Further measures relating to reducing emission approved by the European Parliament

New carbon duty legislation will apply from 1 October 2023. It will apply to companies that import or produce goods with a high carbon footprint into the European Union, such as iron, steel, cement, fertilisers, aluminium and electricity. During the transition period, data will only be collected from importers through regular quarterly reporting, containing information on the amount of direct and indirect emissions contained in imported goods. In the year 2026, the actual collection of duties using carbon certificates will probably begin.
