Remote work from anywhere

As a result of the coronavirus crisis, the so-called “home office” is still a very popular choice. This type of employment is attracting more and more people, who often go abroad to work. To be able to work from different parts of the world, you must obtain remote work visa. Below we have prepared an overview of the visa situation in selected destinations.

The Caribbean

  • The Cayman Islands

Here, a visa called the “Global Citizen Concierge Program” is offered. By obtaining this visa, you will be allowed to stay here for up to two years. Applicants must be employed outside the Cayman Islands and have annual earnings exceeding USD 100,000. Another condition is participation in health insurance.

  • Bermuda

To obtain a visa in this destination, you must be an entrepreneur or an employee at a company based outside Bermuda and you need to have sufficient funds or a continuous source of annual income. The visa fee is USD 263. The maximum duration of stay is one year and the name for this programme is “Work From Bermuda”.

  • Barbados

The Barbados Welcome Stamp visa is a programme for workers who choose to travel to this destination for a maximum of twelve months. The conditions for entry in this programme are to be a remote worker employed by a company registered outside Barbados and to have earnings of at least USD 50,000 per annum. The visa fee is set at USD 2,000. 

Europe

  • Madeira

In Madeira, this type of work is actively supported by the government. Madeira Island has created a “Digital Nomad Village” programme, where you can choose between two visa options. The so-called D7 visa, which allows foreign workers to stay on the island for up to one year at a time (on the condition of monthly earnings of EUR 665 or minimum savings of EUR 15,960). The second option, the D2 visa, is more suitable for longer stays.

  • Croatia

The visa is granted for up to one year and close family members may join the applicant. A clean criminal record, proof of health insurance and a work contract are required. The applicant must have funds reaching a minimum of EUR 3,802. 

  • Iceland 

Iceland only issues visas for 6 months and one needs to work for a company based outside Iceland, have a monthly income of more than USD 7,800 and provide proof of health insurance. 

The Near East

  • Dubai

In order to qualify for the visa, the applicant must be earning a minimum of USD 5,000 per month and must provide a certificate of company ownership or a certificate of employment from a current employer. The employment contract must be valid for a minimum of one year. The last condition is proof of health insurance. The fee reached USD 611 and the visa is valid for one year.
