MoLSA will help employees and employers affected by the tornado using the targeted Tornado programme.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs has introduced the Tornado programme. The programme aims at supporting jobs and helping companies from the areas most affected by the tornado, that is the district of Břeclav, Hodonín and the municipalities of Stebno and Blatno in North Bohemia. Within the programme, costs of wages paid to employees in the period of 25 June to 31 July 2021 will be reimbursed to employers.

The contribution for covering wage costs will be provided based on an agreement made between the employer and the Labour Office of the Czech Republic and will be paid based on billing, which the employer may present even before paying the wage costs themselves. The contribution per one employee will reach 100 % of eligible wage costs, but only up the average earning of the employee at maximum, including all obligatory levies.

The employer will obtain the contribution in the following cases:

  1.  Obstacles in work on the part of the employer
  • the company resides in the affected area and is not able to function and employees are thus subject to obstacles in work and obtain wage reaching a minimum of 60 % of average earnings.
  1.  Obstacles in work on the part of the employee
  • the employee is liquidating damage to his property or his neighbours’ property during the working hours. He does not need to use leave from work for this. In this case the employee is not entitled to reimbursement of wages, according to the Labour Code, but the employer may pay this reimbursement of wages to the employee above the scope of his obligations.
  1. Due to liquidation of damage, the employee is transferred to other work
  • in this case no obstacles arise either on the part of the employee or the employer. The employee is paid wage reaching the same amount, at minimum, as if he were not transferred. His employer will again be reimbursed for his wage.
